Monday, Sept. 23
Right-of-way violation: An unidentified driver was cited for failing to yield after pulling into traffic from the Speedway driveway on North Aurora Road just west of Raymond Drive and Ogden Avenue into the path of another vehicle.
Tuesday, Sept. 24
Theft: A mother told police that between Sept. 17 and Tuesday, someone took her daughter’s Knilling brand viola from a hallway in a school in the 500 block of South Brainard Street.
Wednesday, Sept. 25
Driving under the influence: Adam G. Grosshuesch, 34, not provided; 12:20 a.m. at Webster Street and Ogden Avenue; ticketed with speeding, driving with a suspended license, operating uninsured motor vehicle and one count DUI.
Right of way violation: An unidentified driver was cited for failing to yield after turning left in front of another vehicle and causing an accident near Route 59 and Interstate 88 at 12:55 a.m.
Failure to reduce speed: An unidentified driver received a ticket for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident after driving his Chevy Malibu into the back of a Honda Accord at 7 a.m. at Route 59 and 111th Street.
Failure to reduce speed: Police ticketed an unidentified driver for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a rear-end collision at 7:29 a.m. on the 2300 block of 95th Street.
Right of way violation: An unidentified driver was given a ticket for right-of-way violation at Fifth Avenue and Pacific Drive at 7:35 a.m. No additional details were provided.
Traffic crash: Because the party at fault could not be established, no one was cited after a two-car collision occurred at 8:16 a.m. at Lucent Lane and Naperville Road.
Traffic crash: A 2006 Toyota Sienna was broadsided by the other driver’s 2002 GMC Yukon on Cantore Road just west of Route 59. The Sienna driver told police her view was obstructed by a large planter full of greenery in the median and didn’t see the Yukon approaching.
Improper backing: A driver undergoing a road test with a representative of the Secretary of State was cited for improper backing after hitting another vehicle at West Street and Plainfield Naperville Road at 11:14 a.m. No one was injured.
Hit-and-run: After rear ending another vehicle and checking for damage, a driver left the scene of an accident at 3:45 p.m. at Hassert Boulevard and Route 59 without exchanging information with the other driver.
Failure to reduce speed: Police cited an unidentified driver for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 11:43 a.m. after narrowly missing a flagger and hitting the front of a dump truck turning out of a cordoned-off area near Diehl Road and Route 59.
Improper lane usage: A driver received a ticket for improper lane usage after the city truck he was driving clipped the side mirror on another vehicle near Sara Lane and South Naper Boulevard at 1:25 p.m.
Phone harassment: Mark J. Hutten, 46, Plainfield; 1:30 p.m. at 1350 Aurora Ave.; charged with two counts of telephone harassment.
Property damage: A resident of the 1600 block of Albermarle Court told police at 3 p.m. that her neighbor reported seeing a young male smash a picket on her wooden fence with a skateboard.
Failure to reduce speed: An unidentified driver was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident after rearending another westbound vehicle at 75th and Washington streets at 3:04 p.m.
Hit and run: The driver of a late-model black sedan with Illinois plates fled the scene after hitting another vehicle at Washington Street and Ogden Avenue at 3:30 p.m.
Downed wire: An overhead wire fell into traffic at Martin Avenue and West Street after it was snagged by a Homer Tree Service semi-trailer and broke off its base at 3:46 p.m. No one was injured.
Following too closely: An unidentified driver was cited for following another vehicle too closely after causing an accident at 9 p.m. at North Aurora Road and Route 59.
Drag racing: Damian R. Mucha, 26, Romeoville; 9:32 p.m. at Glacier Park Avenue and Route 59; charged with operating uninsured vehicle, street-race speeding more than 30 mph over the limit, no muffler, no front/rear plate/permit displayed.
Theft: Tina M. Harris, 46, Franklin Park; 10:07 p.m., arrested on the 200 block of East Sigwalt Street in Arlington Heights on a local retail theft warrant.
