Naperville Police Blotter: Woman punched in face over $10 debt

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Wednesday, Dec. 18

Failure to reduce speed: About 9:45 a.m., unidentified motorist lost control of vehicle “as they accelerated out of the turn” from southbound Freedom Drive onto westbound Diehl Road; vehicle then struck a “one way” street sign and tree on the center median; driver cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions.

Burglary: Between 9:30 p.m. Dec. 17 and 1:15 p.m., burglary occurred at Little Sicilian Pizza, 1037 W. Ogden Ave.; report provided no further information.

Warrant arrest: Wendy A. Smentek, 38, hometown not provided; arrested at 7:57 p.m. on a warrant, at or near 7-Eleven, 1490 E. Chicago Ave.

Thursday, Dec. 19

Driving under the influence: Crystal M. McClellan, 23, Hammond, Ind.; 1:26 a.m. near 11th Avenue and Washington Street; charged with two counts DUI and one count speeding.

Battery: A 30-year-old woman reported about 6:09 a.m., unidentified male acquaintance “sought her out at work” at unidentified business on 1800 block of Ferry Road “and demanded $10 she allegedly owed him, and punched her in the face;” woman bore no sign of injury; business security agents “advised that incident is not on camera, and that they do not believe (the woman,) as the alleged suspect was being trained” at time of alleged attack “and did not have the opportunity to meet up with” the woman.

Suspicious incident: Between 11 p.m. Dec. 18 and 9:04 a.m., “suspicious shoe tracks” leading to several windows and a door found on grounds of home on 900 block of Lehigh Circle.

Attempted theft: A 36-year-old man reported between 1 a.m. and 1 p.m., theft attempted on 1800 block of Bay Scott Circle; report provided no further information.

Abandoned vehicle: About 3:22 p.m., police discovered “locked and unoccupied” vehicle blocking traffic in eastbound lane of Bauer Road just east of Mill Street.

Suspended license: Ettoy A. Patton-Priebe, 35, Aurora; 10:06 p.m. near Briarwood and Whispering Hills drives; charged with driving with a suspended license and making an improper turn at intersection.

Suspicious incident: About 11:01 p.m., driver for Naperville Trolley Co. reported suspicious vehicle on 1600 block of Quincy Avenue, and asked for police presence there.

DUI: Scott M. Gilmore, 31, Aurora; 11:37 p.m. near Hobson and College roads; charged with two counts DUI and one count failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions.
