A man from Naperville’s far northwest side has been sentenced to jail for posting suggestive images of children nearly three years ago to at least one pornographic Internet website.
Christian G. Brown, 22, had originally been indicted and facing trial on four felony charges of aggravated possession of child pornography. He was instead convicted of a single, amended, Class 3 felony charge of posting or possessing graphic information for a pornographic site, said Paul Darrah, spokesman for DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin.
The unusual charge is leveled against adults who post lewd or suggestive films, photographs or images of clothed boys or girls under the age of 18 to pornographic websites, Darrah said. Such images typically focus on a child’s clothed genitals or buttocks.
DuPage County Circuit Court Judge Daniel P. Guerin on Monday sentenced Brown to 56 days in jail, Darrah said. Brown served 28 days in jail following his arrest, and with day-for-day credit for good behavior, has already completed that term and has been released.
Guerin also placed Brown on two years of sex offender probation and ordered him to pay $1,135 in fines and court costs, Darrah said.
Naperville police arrested Brown on Jan. 19, 2011 in his apartment on the 1500 block of Fairway Drive.
, in the Country Lakes area of the city.
Detectives who brought a search warrant to the apartment found Brown asleep, or pretending to be asleep, in his bed with a computer. They ordered him out of bed and confiscated the computer.
Police ultimately gleaned nearly two dozen files and recordings from the computer, some of them depicting children under the age of 3, authorities said in 2011.
Court and state prison documents indicated Brown had no prior criminal record.
