A Will County Board member’s grandson was sentenced Tuesday to two years of court supervision after he pleaded guilty to theft.

Nicholas R. Moustis, 23, of 21349 S. 80th Ave., Frankfort, was accused of stealing cash from Mazher Kahn, an employee of MAK Distributors, in Mokena, on May 1.

A judge ordered a special prosecutor to handle the case because Moustis is the grandson of county board member Jim Moustis, who also is Frankfort Township supervisor.

Nicholas Moustis, who had faced a felony theft charge, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of theft Tuesday and was given 24 months of supervision, ordered to complete 200 hours of community service, and ordered to pay $3,666.65 in restitution and $1,000 for a fine and costs.

The special prosecutor Dave Neal said he believes the sentence was appropriate, given Moustis’ age and lack of criminal history. It also maximized the restitution paid to the victim, Neal said.
