Police Blotter: $800 in hygiene products stolen from local business
These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.
Wednesday, Sept. 11
Marijuana possession: Sean T. Ufen, 27, Plainfield; 3:01 a.m. on 0-99 block of Testa Drive; charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Theft: A 53-year-old woman reported between 10 p.m. Sept. 10 and 7 a.m., rear tire cover stolen from Jeep parked outside home on 4100 block of Callery Road.
Underage drinking: About 9:11 a.m., unidentified teenagers or young adults found in car parked near Arlington Avenue and Kaskaskia Court; “driver passed out and passenger seen furtively moving in area where flask containing alcoholic beverage was located;” both charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
Suspicious incident: About 10:34 a.m., suspicious vehicle reported in area of Sun Valley Road and Turnbridge Circle; vehicle proved to be occupied by employees of housekeeping service.
Theft: Between noon Sept. 10 and noon today, pieces of slit fencing and wooden posts stolen from construction site on 1500 block of Aurora Avenue.
Shoplifting: Between 10:56 a.m. and 1:05 p.m., assortment of hygiene products with total estimated value of $803 stolen from unidentified business on 1500 block of North Aurora Road; shoplifters identified only as man and woman of either Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent.
Vehicle damage: A 26-year-old woman reported between 7 a.m. Sept. 9 and 1:31 p.m. today, rear window damaged on vehicle parked outside home on 1900 block of Lancaster Court; damage estimated at $300.
Suspended license: About 6:56 p.m., unidentified motorist arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license near North Aurora Road and Fairway Drive.
Driving under the influence: Gary B. Hale, 27, Bolingbrook; 10:33 p.m. near Diehl Road and Naper Boulevard; charged with DUI/drugs, improper parking on roadway, improper lane use and driving vehicle with unsafe tires.
Suspended license: Noe Garcia-Parente, 45, Aurora; 11:10 p.m. near Aurora Avenue and River Bend Road; charged with driving with a suspended license and crossing double yellow line in roadway.
Thursday, Sept. 12
Marijuana possession: Kelrod R. Leaks, 34, Bolingbrook; 12:22 a.m. near Eighth Avenue and Washington Street; charged with possession of 30 grams or less marijuana, driving vehicle with unsafe tires and speeding; also wanted on a warrant.
Wrong lane use: About 11:55 a.m., unidentified driver of Lisle-Woodridge Fire District ambulance clipped exterior mirror of vehicle near Chicago Avenue and Ellsworth Street, while on route to Edward Hospital; driver ticketed for improper lane use.
Suspended license: Juan C. Ramirez-Gonzalez, 18, Plainfield; 12:52 p.m. near Cantore Road and Route 59; charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions.
Property damage: A 54-year-old woman reported between 7:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., mailbox damaged outside home on 1100 block of Bayhill Avenue.
Vehicle burglary: A 44-year-old man reported between, stereo faceplate stolen from unlocked vehicle parked on street outside home on 300 Birchwood Drive.
Aggravated assault: Ashley S. Thomas, 27, 1700 block of Brookdale Road; 6:10 p.m. at home following dispute, in which she was permanently leaving residence, refused to surrender keys to other person’s car and then made threatening motions at police who were sent to scene; charged with aggravated assault, theft and resisting a peace officer.
Suspicious incident: Resident of 3800 block of Petra Court reported receiving suspicious telephone call about6:19 p.m.
No insurance: About 7:49 p.m., unidentified motorist ticketed for driving without insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions, after vehicle rear-ended another near 75th Street and Ranchview Drive.
Suspended license: Shawonda L. Taylor, 34, 1600 block of Country Lakes Drive; 11:55 p.m. near Campbell and Fairway drives; charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to notify secretary of state’s office of change of address.
