A third ex-convict has been arrested and charged in last month’s armed robbery of the Radio Shack store on Naperville’s northeast side.
Naperville police on Wednesday said the third suspect, Jalin T. Parks, had joined his alleged associates in DuPage County Jail in Wheaton, although the jail website had no record of his being there.
Like the other two men, Parks, 19, of Chicago, has been charged with armed robbery for the early-evening Aug. 12 stickup of the Radio Shack store at 1223 E. Ogden Ave., in the Ogden Mall shopping center. A large quantity of electronic equipment was stolen in the holdup.
An examination of records on file with the Illinois Department of Corrections in Springfield revealed Parks was paroled on May 31, or less than four months ago.
He entered prison on May 4, 2012 to serve a three-year term, after being convicted of 2011 charges of theft and receipt, possession or sale of a stolen motor vehicle in Cook County, prison records showed.
Christopher Nesbit, 44, of Chicago, and Dennis Clark, 23, of Chicago, were arrested in August and also charged with armed robbery in connection with the crime.
Naperville police said the three stole a variety of merchandise from the store at around 6:30 p.m. while holding two employees at gunpoint.
The trio then drove away, but their car was spotted by police on Naper Boulevard. The chase then went onto Interstate 88. Illinois State Police officers eventually lost sight of the car.
The car was later found abandoned on Chicago’s west side.
