Updated: February 21, 2012 8:23AM

A free electronics recycling event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 N. Mill St. in Naperville.

Items that can be dropped off at the event include:

• TVs, VCRs and DVD players.

• Computers, monitors, keyboards, laptops, speakers, routers and modems.

• Printers, scanners, fax machines and copy machines.

• Stereos, radios, boom boxes, compact disc players and cassette players.

• Compact discs, DVDs, cassettes and VCR tapes.

• Cameras, medical devices, vacuums and other small appliances.

• Microwaves, coffee pots, mixers and other kitchen appliances.

• Batteries.

Items will be crushed, and precious natural resources extracted. Organizers say that those dropping off computers don’t need to worry about security of their hard drives.

Not accepted at the Saturday event will be smoke detectors, large appliances and anything with liquid or hazardous materials.
