Spay Illinois offers low-cost options

Spay Illinois, a statewide program that promotes spaying or neutering pets, offers a toll-free number to find low-cost options in the area, 1-877-475-7729 or 708-301-1300.

The goal of Spay Illinois is to reduce the number of animals euthanized in Illinois every year by making people aware of low-cost services, subsidized funds, and programs for low-income owners.

Spay/neuter pricing is: male dog $75, female dog $85 to $100, female cat $70 and male cat $50.

Spay Illinois also will host a pet vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at All Paws Beauty Salon, 130 N. First St., Rockford. Call for an appointment, 877-475-7729. Costs vary from $15 to $35 per shot. Special packages also available from $20 to $65, depending on the pet. No exam fee with vaccines.

Two Bostons collecting food for charity

Two Bostons in Naperville will collect food in February for Loaves & Fishes. The Share the Love food drive will match the weight of donated “people” food with dry kibble to an area rescue group.

Bring a canned or nonperishable boxed “people” food item between Feb. 1 and 14 to either Two Bostons location, 103 W. Jefferson St. or 2523 W. 75th St. Also vote in a poll on Facebook, www.facebook.com/twobostons, for a rescue group that should win the pet food donation.

Participating animal rescue groups: Midwest Lab Rescue, ARF, Rover Rescue, Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue, Hope 4 Paws, Recycled Rotts, Naperville Area Humane Society, ADOPT, Westie Rescue of MO, It’s a Pittie, Australian Shepherd Rescue Midwest and Great Lakes Lab Rescue.
