Temple B’nai Israel
to host annual picnic
Temple B’nai Israel hosts its annual picnic/open house for new, prospective and current members from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Temple, 400 N. Edgelawn, Aurora.
Cost is $8 per adult, $5 for children 6-12 and free for children 6 and younger, with a family cap at $25. Prospective members and their families may attend the picnic for free. RSVP by calling the temple at 630-892-2450. Visit www.temple-bnai-israel.org.
St. Margaret Mary Parish hosts annual garage sale
St. Margaret Mary Parish will host its 13th annual Scholarship Fund Mega-Garage Sale from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 3, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 in the St. Margaret Mary Parish Center at 1450 Green Grails Drive, Naperville. All remaining items will be half price Saturday, except furniture and clothing.
The event is sponsored by the Sharing Parish Scholarship committee to provide tuition assistance for parochial-school students in Aurora.
Donations of new and gently used items in working condition are welcome in the Parish Center from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 28; 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29; and from11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 30 through Aug. 1. Visit smmp.com or call 630-961-0232.
Synagogue to host new member open house
Congregation Etz Chaim, 1710 S. Highland Ave., Lombard, invites all individuals and families who are interested in learning more about their Jewish community, to a prospective member open house and brunch from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19.
Learn more about the congregation, meet Rabbi Steven Bob, Rabbi Andrea Cosnowsky, Director of Education Anne Stein, and other congregants and board members. Tours of the facility, including the sanctuary, renovated social hall, library, classrooms and playground, and information about the synagogue’s many programs, also will be available.
A light brunch will be served, and children are welcome. There is no charge to attend.
