As part of Naperville Community Television’s yearlong 25th anniversary celebration, NCTV17 asked the residents of Naperville to participate in the creation of a community-wide documentary capturing one day in the life of our town.
Throughout the day May 2, people stopped what they were doing and recorded their lives, their surroundings, their loved ones and their city.
Footage was captured on professional HD cameras, cell phones, “flip” cameras, digital cameras, and even the old family camcorder. The moments captured were then submitted to NCTV17.
After months of sorting through all of the submitted material, NCTV17 unveiled the final documentary during a fundraiser celebrating NCTV17’s 25 years of broadcasting. More than 100 guests packed the Madden Theatre on the campus of North Central College to enjoy the 45-minute testimony to one day, one community and hundreds of moments captured in one story — “Our Story.”
“Our Story” departs from NCTV17’s traditional documentary because it contains no narration, just the voices of the people in our community and natural sound. It’s beautifully scored by local composers and longtime collaborators, Apocalypse Cow. Editor Carl Schultz cut together the more than 80 video clips and photos submitted as well as video captured by the entire NCTV production staff.
So, tune in and see your town, your schools, your neighbors and perhaps even yourself. The documentary is airing on Channel 17. Visit www.nctv17.com/schedule for air times.
