Candy, an 8-month-old Chihuahua/Shiba Inu mix, keeps herself busy by supervising the other dogs and making sure no one gets into trouble. She also keeps an eye on the cats. Kids in her new home should be older, because she’d probably boss around the little ones.
Carlyle, a 3-year-old front-declawed cat, has no idea how a handsome guy such as himself ended up here. One day he was living the good life, sleeping in a nice warm bed at night, but then he found himself out on the street.
More dogs and cats are available at the Naperville Area Humane Society. All the animals have been examined for health and temperament, started on their vaccines and microchipped. They are spayed or neutered at adoption. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Visit at 1620 W. Diehl Road in Naperville or online at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.
ADOPT
Chelsea: This cat turned 1 in February, so it has to be her way or no way! This toddler will love a new family to pieces, seek out lots and lots of attention, and beg for petting all day long. She’d really enjoy the opportunity to sit on a lap during this new football season. She loves toys so she’ll entertain herself at home alone.
