Naperville CARES raises more than $37,000 at Toasting for a Cause

The seventh annual Toasting for a Cause on Nov. 5 exceeded expectations, raising more than $37,000 to benefit local families in financial crisis. This event was an overwhelming success made possible by the generous support of the manager at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, Randy DeGuzman, his staff and the more than 100 guests who attended.
When guests arrived at the restaurant, they were served Prosecco, compliments of Sullivan’s. They then were treated to an elegant dinner created and prepared by executive chef Terrell Cole, who paired each course with an exquisite wine from Justin Vineyards and Winery.
Keith Jones, of Sayre and Jones Auctioneers, served as the moderator for the evening. He began with a rousing game of “heads or tails” to raffle off a gift basket that contained the evening’s featured wines along with Waterford wine goblets and olive oil donated by Twisted Olive.
After the first course, Jones auctioned off a dinner for 10 hosted by Sullivan’s Steakhouse as well as a Naperville Trolley Holiday Lights Tour paired with a party from My Chef. Jones also solicited funds for the organization’s CARESGiver program, which recognizes individuals, families, businesses or organizations that contribute at least $300 annually to support Naperville CARES’ programs and operations.
“We are very grateful to Randy and his staff at Sullivan’s for their continued support of Naperville CARES through both Toasting for a Cause and our April fundraiser, Cuisine for a Cause,” said Janet Derrick, Naperville CARES executive director. “We also want to thank our wonderful guests who attend Toasting for a Cause and were so generous during the evening.”
All the proceeds from Toasting for a Cause go to Naperville CARES, a volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to help local families in financial crisis meet their essential needs by providing emergency financial support and resources.
