Municipal band seeks ice cream social sponsors

The Naperville Municipal Band is accepting application letters for ice cream social sponsors for the band concerts in Central Park this summer. Concerts are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays from June 6 through Aug. 15. Any not-for-profit organization serving the Naperville community is eligible to apply.

The applicant’s letter should include the organization’s name, a brief explanation of its purpose, in addition to the name, address and telephone number of the organization’s president or ice cream social chairperson. Application letters must be received by March 11 to be eligible for the lottery.

Self-service kiosks coming to Book Road post office

The post office plans to install new self-service kiosks in the lobby of the post office at 3075 Book Road, suite 103, Naperville.

Customers will be able to mail letters and packages, pay for a post office box, purchase stamps, delivery confirmation and insurance, along with other services available inside a post office.

The kiosks will be installed Feb. 20.

Golf courses to hold
reserved tee time lottery

The Naperville Park District’s Springbrook and Naperbrook Golf Courses announce its 2013 season reserved tee time lottery for resident golfers who wish to reserve weekend tee times from late April to September.

The lottery will be at noon Feb. 24 at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Ave. At least one member of the foursome or an individual representing it must be present at the drawing to select a tee time.

Each group must submit an application by 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18. Applications are available online at www.springbrookgolfcourse.org or www.naperbrookgolfcourse, and may be picked up at either course. Springbrook Golf Course is at 2220 W. 83rd St. and Naperbrook Golf Course is at 22204 W. 111th St.

DuPage Homeownership Center seeks nominations

The DuPage Homeownership Center is seeking nominations for the Robert Christ Affordable Housing Award. The award is named for Bob Christ, founding DHOC board president, who was a leading affordable housing activist in DuPage County. The award will be presented at the center’s 22nd anniversary celebration in June.

To submit a nomination, download and fill out a nomination form at http://www.dhoc.org/events/annual and send to debra@dhoc.org, or you can mail to DuPage Homeownership Center, 1600 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, IL 60187. Also fax the nomination form to 630-260-2505.

Some of the guidelines for the award selection will include: significant achievement in promoting or creating affordable housing opportunities in DuPage County; bringing about awareness of affordable housing issues, pioneering systemic change, forming alliances, sharing experience and counsel; and demonstration of partnerships or activities that leverage community resources.

Wheatland Township open house at new offices

An open house of the new Wheatland Township offices will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 12337 S. Route 59, units 117 and 111, in the North Plainfield Crossing shopping complex.
