There’s a lot to be proud of in Naperville and our local authors are certainly up there on the library’s list of favorites. We’re very fortunate to have a number of extremely popular authors, including the New York Times best seller Susan Elizabeth Phillips.
While the Naperville Public Library owns physical copies of books by these authors, we also have them in an electronic format. Yes, that’s right; you can now read books on our Nook e-reader by very popular local authors, including Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Cathie Linz, Dyanne Davis, Blythe Gifford, Adrienne Giordano, Luis Alberto Urrea, Shane Gericke, Veronica Roth, Melanie Benjamin, Michael T. Harvey, E.E. Knight, Denise Swanson and John Everson.
The titles by the local authors come pre-loaded on our Local Author Nook. You’ll find a wide variety of reading material on the electronic reader, including romance, mystery, thrillers, literary titles and even historical fiction such as “The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb.”
“When I selected titles for this dedicated Nook, I wanted to showcase as many talented Naperville-area authors as possible,” explains Karen Toonen, adult services librarian at the Naper Boulevard Library. “It’s amazing the amount of writing talent here.”
Karen is also excited that local authors Dyanne Davis, Blythe Gifford, Adrienne Giordano and John Everson donated their electric titles.
“I’m always looking for additional donations so we can expand our Local Author Nook collection,” she adds.
How do you find this e-reader in the library catalog? It’s easy, just type in “local author nook” and the Nook will come up.
Of course, we have more than 70 other pre-loaded Nooks. They span a number of genres, including adult mystery and crime, adult fiction and non-fiction, science fiction and fantasy, adult graphic novels and adult romance. To find these Nooks, you’ll need to do an advanced search, type an * in the title box, select “eReaders” in the material type area and then click submit. All 73 Nooks and what they contain will come up. Be sure to scroll down to see the many different genres we support.
