At a packed Aurelio’s Springbrook Square in Naperville, local celebrities, as well as fundraiser attendees, belted out the tunes to raise money for local families in financial crisis.

At the end of the night Jan. 31, the event raised more than $2,000 to benefit Naperville CARES.

Attended by more than 150 people, Karaoke for a Cause participants were encouraged to donate a tip to sing, or be nominated by friends to sing, their favorite Karaoke tune.

Local celebrity singers also joined in and promoted the Karaoke. They included CLTV news anchor Dolly McCarthy, who sang “These Boots Are Made for Walking,” and health and fitness columnist and author Nicki Anderson, who performed Pink’s “Glitter in the Air.”

Other celebrity singers included Downtown Charlie Brown of the Downtown Charlie Brown Blues Band; Shane Beard, president of Fast Signs; Mike Rossi, Neuqua Valley High School teacher and coach; and Mike Evans, Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce president and CEO.

Videos of some of the evening’s singers can be found on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/napervillecares.

Those in attendance also had the opportunity to dine on Aurelio’s famous fare to further help CARES, which received 15 percent of food sales as well as all Karaoke tips.

In addition, the evening was made possible by business support and raffle prize donations from the Community Business Alliance, Naperville Magazine, A Kid’s Kitchen, Triple S Services, Pinot’s Palette and Cowart Chiropractic Clinic.

The night of food, fun and Karaoke provided by Dennis of Karaoke You raised funds for Naperville CARES, a nonprofit that helps local families in financial crisis meet their essential needs by providing emergency financial support and resources.
