Blood Drives

In 1986, President Ronald Reagan designated the month of March as Hemophilia Awareness Month. According to the Hemophilia Federation of America, hemophilia is a hereditary blood-clotting disorder that affects about 19,000 people nationwide.

Call Heartland Blood Centers at 1-800-7TO-GIVE or schedule an appointment online to give blood.

To be a blood donor, individuals must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with written parental permission; weigh at least 110 pounds; be symptom free of cold, flu and allergies; and be in general good health.

The following blood drives have been scheduled in the Naperville area:

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 16 at Famous Dave’s Of Bolingbrook, 704 Janes Ave.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 30 at Bolingbrook Fire Station 5, 1901 Rodeo Drive

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8 at Dykema Gossett, Pllc, 4200 Commerce Court, suite 300, Lisle

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 20 at Molex Inc., 2222 Wellington Court, Lisle

9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 6 at Plainfield Public Library District, 15025 S. Illinois St. Signup at the library or call Julie at 815-436-0154 for more information. Online scheduling is also available at www.heartlandbc.org.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 30 at Eich’s Sports, 24316 W. 143rd St., Plainfield

1 to 4 p.m. March 14 at Grange Insurance, 4525 Weaver Parkway, suite 220, Plainfield

11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 8 at Central DuPage Hospital, 25 North Winfield Road, Winfield. Contact the blood bank at 630-933-2062 to schedule an appointment.
