Delilah

Age: 4 months old

Breed: Boxer mix

Background: Delilah was dumped at a high kill shelter, probably because she was deaf and the breeder couldn’t make any money selling her.

Personality: Delilah, 28 pounds, has the softest white coat and bluest eyes. She is playful, loving and basically a typical pup — except she is deaf. She gets around just fine. The training for Delilah just needs to be different (no voice commands or whistling) — laser lights, slight tap on the shoulder, etc. She loves to explore the outdoors.

Other: Delilah gets along with dogs of all sizes and age, cats and children. Delilah sleeps through the night and is mastering her housebreaking skills. Delilah is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventative.

Adoption fee: $250

Where to find her: www.helpinganimals.org or call 877-364-2286

Magic

Age: 2 years old

Breed: Short-haired black cat

Background: Magic was born to an outside mom and rescued with his three brothers at 5 weeks old. He has been in foster care since. He is a beautiful, large, all-black kitty, with golden eyes.

Personality: Magic is a pretty laid back guy. He likes to lay on the top perch of the kitty tree with his legs dangling over the side, waiting for snuggles. He also likes to try and trip his foster mom by rubbing on her legs while she is walking. He lives with his brother Dillon and several other kitty buddies, and would love to go to his new home with one of his friends, if possible.

Adoption fee: $100

Other: Neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines

Where to find this pet: Paws and Purrs Humane Society, 630-897-8738, www.pawsandpurrs.org. All of the group’s cats live in foster homes and can be seen at adoption events or in their foster homes by appointment.
