Pets of the week

Updated: August 4, 2011 4:20PM

Naperville Area Humane Society

I’m Quincy, a 5-year-old tuxedo cat. My official job at NAHS is to be the seat-saver and seat-warmer. Whenever a chair is empty, I make sure it gets filled and stays cozy. I love napping and snuggling. The girls here swear I’m just as sweet as can be. If you’ve got an empty chair in your house, I might be just the kitty to fill it!

I’m Violet, a 2-year-old pointer/retriever mix. I came here to NAHS with two of my puppies, but now that they’ve been adopted into great homes, I’m looking for my own family! I’d prefer to live without other pets, but I’ll keep my new family entertained with tricks — I know sit, shake paws, down, stay and come. Kids in my new home should be at least 12 years old, because I’m a big girl and can play a little rough. I hope you’ll come and meet me soon.

More dogs and cats are available at the Naperville Area Humane Society. All the animals have been examined for health and temperament, started on their vaccines and microchipped. They are spayed or neutered at adoption. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Visit at 1620 W. Diehl Road, Naperville or at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.

Prince was rescued from Chicago animal control. His name speaks volumes to his special personality. He is a 10-year-old Maltese weighing six pounds. This guy is truly a compassionate little gentleman. He loves to curl up in your lap to feel safe and loved. He simply wants to be your companion and has an enormous amount of love to give. He has a deformed hind leg but it doesn’t hamper his activity at all. Prince is looking for that special home where he will be content being a faithful and constant companion.

Beautiful Bella was given up when her owner had to move to a place where pets were prohibited. She is a mellow gal who laps up all the attention she can get in her own quiet way. You can usually find her sitting pretty in her box. It’s her favorite place to be. Bella also gets along with dogs and older children. If you’re looking for a beautiful and confident yet quiet girl who is used to making her own decisions, this could be a match made in heaven.
