At the Whole Foods Market on 75th Street in Naperville, employees have gotten used to one celebrity sighting.

According to one employee, actor Russell Crowe has made almost daily appearances for the last week.

“Most people don’t even recognize him,” the employee said. “He’s put on a lot of weight.”

But based on his purchases, Crowe might be trying to reverse this fact.

“He has been buying a lot of seafood and sushi,” the employee said. “He comes in during the morning around 10:30 or 11 a.m.”

Workers said that customers usually leave the star to his shopping, but that he has stopped to give hugs and take pictures.

Despite being surrounded by a small posse of people, Crowe seems like your average Naperville dad, employees said — well, beside his obviously expensive watch.

“A lot of us have just walked by and said ‘Oh, excuse me!’ just to say that we’ve said something to him,” one employee said during his lunch break Tuesday.

Crowe also was spotted Saturday night at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, enjoying drinks at the bar before being seated at the outdoor patio.

One diner said Sullivan’s staff members were trying to allow the Hollywood celeb to have some privacy while there, but that didn’t stop many from gawking, or walking, by his table.

Sullivan’s did not return phone calls on the matter.

We’re guessing, the reason the Oscar winner is here has something to do with his next big role — reportedly as Jor-El in the “Man of Steel” — a Warner Bros film set for release next year.

Hundreds of area residents came out Saturday to the DePaul campus in Naperville for a local casting call for extras in that same movie. Some scenes will be shot in Plano and other area locations in August and September.

Or maybe he heard what a wonderful place Naperville is to live.
