Library offers new financial ratings series

Updated: November 22, 2011 8:23AM

Consumers need reliable information about the financial stability of their banks, insurance companies and investments.

The new Financial Ratings Series database, powered by Weiss Research and TheStreet Ratings, provides analysis on banks, credit unions, insurance companies, stocks and mutual funds.

Weiss Research has a strong track record of unbiased and independent research that can safeguard depositors and policyholders. These evaluations are free from conflicts of interest that are typical of established rating agencies. Screening tools allow library users to select banks, credit unions and insurance companies by recent downgrades and asset size. Individual reports on financial institutions provide ratings on capitalization, asset quality, profitability, liquidity and stability. User-friendly reports and analysis also are available for stocks, mutual funds and ETFs.

“The Naperville Public Library offers some of the best resources for making sound financial decisions,” says Bobbie Rudnick, business librarian. “The new Financial Ratings Series is an important addition to the library’s in-depth collection of online subscription databases. These tools are free for library cardholders and are available 24/7 from a home or office computer.”

Visit the Naperville Public Library’s website at www.naperville-lib.info. To learn more about finding and using financial information, contact Bobbie Rudnick at 630-961-4100, ext. 6328.
