Naperville’s Ribfest has landed another top classic rock band, as ZZ Top has agreed to play at this summer’s festival.

The Exchange Club of Naperville and the 2012 Ribfest Committee announced Thursday that ZZ Top will hit the Navistar stage on July 1 at Ribfest.

The 25th Ribfest will be held June 29 to July 3 in Knoch Park in Naperville. Ribfest consists of family activities throughout the event, 16 rib vendors from across the country and music.

ZZ Top, an American blues-rock trio from Texas, consists of Billy Gibbons (guitar), Dusty Hill (bass) and Frank Beard (drums). The band members said their sound has been influenced by such blues masters as Freddie King, Lightnin Hopkins, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.

“By adding ZZ Top to the Ribfest line-up in addition to the Steve Miller Band, should set the stage for a very successful event,” stated Mark Wright, 2012 Ribfest chairman. “Tickets will go on sale in March and will be date specific for these first two groups. The rest of the dates will have tickets that can be used any of the other three days of the event.”

Over the past 25 years, $12 million has been donated from Ribfest proceeds to more than 50 agencies which are working for the elimination of child abuse and domestic violence.
