Bowl-A-Thon: We Grow Dreams, the West Chicago nonprofit that advocates for employment of people with disabilities, will host its seventh annual bowling fundraiser from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brunswick Zone, 1555 W. 75th St., Woodridge. Registraion starts at 1 p.m. A raffle will award assorted great prizes, including a weeklong getaway to a secluded private home on Bald Head Island, N.C. International Festival: North Central College hosts its annual International Festival, featuring ethnic dancing, authentic international cuisine for purchase, live music, games and educational exhibits by community groups from noon to 4 p.m. at North Central’s Merner Field House, 450 S. Brainard St., Naperville. Admission is $6 at the door; children 3 and younger admitted free. All proceeds support North Central College scholarships for international study. Naperville Table Tennis Tournament: The annual tournament, co-sponsored by the Naperville Park District and the Naperville Table Tennis Club, will take place at River Woods School, 2607 River Woods Drive. History Speaks: An Evening with Mr. & Mrs. Lincoln will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. at Naper Settlement in Naperville. Max and Donna Daniels portray the president and Mary Todd Lincoln as they talk about their lives together from Springfield to the White House.
The DuPage Symphony Orchestra: The group celebrates the immigrant experience and American dream at North Central College with its performance of “Heroic and Hopeful” at 3 p.m. in the college’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Heroin on the rise: Two narcotics detectives from the Naperville Police Department and an addictions counselor will team up to present “The Rising Tide of Heroin Abuse in Naperville” at 7 p.m. at the 95th Street Library, 3015 Cedar Glade Drive, Naperville. Implicated in seven deaths Naperville deaths in 2011, heroin has made a strong comeback in recent years. The presentation is being organized by the Police Department in conjunction with the DuPage Child Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Naperville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4,2. No reservations are required.

Black History Month: The First Division Museum at Cantigny Park will offer a free presentation about the role of African American soldiers during the World War I era at 7:30 p.m. Chad L. Williams, a scholar of U.S. and African American history who serves as associate professor of history at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., will speak. He received the Society for Military History 2011 Distinguished Book Award for “United States Military History for Torchbearers of Democracy: African American Soldiers in the World War I Era.” A book signing will follow.
