This year’s Rockin’ for the Troops Concert featuring Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will be held from noon to 11 p.m. July 21 at Cantigny at 1S151 Winfield Road in Wheaton.
The beer garden will be open from 3 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25.
In its seventh year, Rockin’ for the Troops has become one of the premier troop support events of the year, reaching a sellout crowd of more than 11,000 last year, Cantigny officials said.
Cantigny, Operation Support Our Troops-America and NAVISTAR are sponsoring the event.
Operation Support Our Troops-Illinois was founded in 2003 by Deb Rickert, mother of a West Point cadet, to collect donations of snacks, toiletries, and other “creature comforts” not readily available to send to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Sinise and his band have been a staple at the event. They play an average of 30 to 40 shows per year with most of them supporting the USO or other charities.
The event will also feature 7th Heaven, The Voices and guest appearances by Isabela Nanni and Big John Howell and Amy Jacobson.
Also, there will be a variety of family activities during the entire course of the event, organizers said.
