The mother of a Naperville man killed when he dove into a 4-foot-deep pool filed a wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday against the owner of the Crete property.
Pamela Walker claims her son, Pierre Walker, was killed when he dove into a pool June 20 at the home of Darnell Abron at 3661 Melanie Lane in Crete, according to a suit filed in Cook County Circuit Court.
Pierre Walker, 23, of 786 Inland Circle in Naperville, was pronounced dead at 12:48 p.m. July 1 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy determined Pierre Walker died of ischemic bowel - inadequate flow of oxygenated blood to the large intestine - and cervical injuries from a diving accident, according to the medical examiner's office.
The suit claims Abron invited Pierre Walker to his home and allowed people to dive into the pool without warning them it was only four feet deep. The suit also claims Abron failed to monitor pool activities.
Abron could not be reached for comment.
The two-count suit is seeking more than $100,000.
