To accommodate the large number of Turkey Trot 5K race participants, the northbound lanes of West Street will be closed between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
This closure will allow participants at the start of the race to extend across northbound West Street and then safely merge over onto southbound West Street as runners begin to spread out.
The Naperville Lions Club event will start and finish at Naperville Central High School.
The run requires temporary street closures beginning about 7:30 a.m. and ending by about 10 a.m. Race route streets are re-opened to traffic as soon as the Naperville Police Department deems them safe. The race route only will be a no parking, tow zone from 5 to 10 a.m. and will be posted accordingly.
Motorists should expect delays through the morning hours in and around the race route area and take alternate routes or allow extra time to get to their destination. A color-coded map of all street closures related to the race is on the city’s website at www.naperville.il.us/walkrun.aspx. The map requires Adobe Acrobat reader to view.
