Naperville police are continuing their search for a masked woman who robbed a service station at gunpoint late Thursday afternoon on the city’s northeast side.
At least eight squad cars from the Naperville, DuPage County sheriff’s and District 15 Illinois State Police agencies responded to the call of a holdup at Ogden Phillips 66, 1107 E. Ogden Ave. The station sits at the northeast corner of the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Charles Street, near a residential section of unincorporated DuPage County.
The robbery occurred about 5:57 p.m., Naperville police Sgt. Steve Schindlbeck said at the scene. A station attendant called 911 to report having been held up by a woman.
“She just walked in, brandished a handgun and demanded cash,” Schindlbeck said of the robber. “She was last seen on foot headed northbound” on Charles Street and into the residential neighborhood, he said.
“State police assisted us with a K-9 unit,” Schindlbeck said. Naperville police held their perimeter around the station while the police dog and handler searched the neighborhood, “but there were no results,” he said.
Schindlbeck said the robber was described only as a woman wearing a ski mask. She escaped with an undetermined amount of money.
The attendant was not injured during the holdup. The station reopened for business about 7:15 p.m., after police cleared the scene.
Schindlbeck asked witnesses to the robbery or those who believe they have information about the crime to call the Naperville police records division, at 630-420-6157.
