Man sentenced to 6 months in jail in Naperville child pornography case

A man from far western Illinois has been sentenced to jail and ordered to register as a sex offender for having pornographic images of two girls on his home computer.
Members of the Naperville Police Department’s High Technology Crimes Unit were instrumental in the investigation that led to the conviction of Brian C. Dyke, 27, of Fulton.
Dyke pleaded guilty in DuPage County Circuit Court to charges of possession of child pornography and solicitation to meet a child. Court records indicated companion charges of grooming and solicitation of child pornography were dismissed in exchange for that plea.
Judge Daniel P. Guerin accepted Dyke’s plea and sentenced him Dec. 19 to six months in DuPage County Jail, court records showed. Dyke had been in the jail since being arrested, and with day-for-day credit for good behavior, has completed that term.
Guerin also placed Dyke on 2 1/2 years of probation and ordered him to register with Illinois State Police as a sex offender, according to records.
Naperville police began investigating Dyke on March 6, after receiving information a local girl had been “befriended” by him as they played an on-line video game. The two met on a website that bills itself as “the world’s largest 3-D chat and dress-up community.”
A police spokesman in May said Dyke contacted two girls in February and April via his wireless telephone. One of the girls, without her parents’ knowledge, then asked to meet him.
Dyke sent nude photographs of himself to one of the girls via a text message, the spokesman said. Police, during a subsequent raid on Dyke’s home, found 20 pornographic images of two girls on his personal computer.
It was not certain if any of the images were those of the Naperville girl. Another police official said a written report indicated the Naperville girl’s mother said her daughter initiated the text messages to Dyke, and that photographs were sent to him.
Fulton lies about 115 miles due west of Naperville, along the Mississippi River and opposite Clinton, Iowa.
