PLAINFIELD — A man who previously faced child pornography charges in St. Charles was found dead inside a car overturned in a creek in Will County Monday morning.
Around 7:10 a.m. police and firefighters were called to Lily Cache Creek, about 100 yards south of the Route 30 bridge in Plainfield.
Police said the car, a Mercedes, was completely frosted over and ice had formed around it.
“The water was about halfway up the side of the vehicle and divers found a man already deceased inside,” Assistant Fire Chief Jon Stratton said.
There were no passengers inside.
The Will County coroner’s office identified the man, George C. Weathered, 30, through fingerprints. An autopsy was performed Monday afternoon.
In May 2005, federal and local police searched Weathered’s St. Charles home and discovered hundreds of computer movies and images depicting sexual assault on children.
Weathered served 90 days in jail and was required to register as a lifetime sex offender.
