Bar quarrel nets charges for 22-year-old woman

A young Naperville woman faces a felony charge after she was refused service at a downtown tavern early Wednesday morning and scuffled with police, authorities said.
According to a news release, Darcie M. Ingerson, 22, was “highly intoxicated” when officers arrived at The Lantern, 8 W. Chicago Ave., about 12:30 a.m. to escort her from the establishment to a waiting taxi cab. She would up having a ride in a patrol car instead.
Ingerson, who lives in the 1900 block of Carlsbad Circle in Naperville, resisted repeated efforts by bar employees and officers to convince her to leave, police Sgt. Michaus Williams reported.
Ingerson “became violent and combative, kicking the officer several times in the leg and groin area,” Williams said in the release. “She was taken into custody after a brief struggle and again kicked the officer after being placed in handcuffs at the scene before being placed into a squad car.”
Police spokesman Sgt. Lou Cammiso said Ingerson was under the influence when she arrived at The Lantern, and the bartender declined to serve her any alcohol, providing water instead.
“With all the negative (publicity) downtown, the places are doing the right thing,” Cammiso said.
Charges filed against Ingerson include one count of aggravated battery, a class 2 felony; and misdemeanor counts of resisting a peace officer and criminal trespass to real property.
Ingerson’s bond was set at $2,500. She remained in custody in DuPage County Jail late Wednesday morning.
