The Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation will host a forum on the City Council referendum to be on the spring ballot.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 in the City Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.
The forum will look at the issues behind the referendum question on whether the Naperville City Council members should be elected from districts or at-large from the whole community.
In 2010, residents voted by a two-to-one margin for the district system. That system, to be in place for the 2015 elections, has the city divided into five districts, each to have its own Council member. There would also be three Council members elected at-large under the new system. The current system has all Council members elected at large.
The confederation has invited representatives from the Naperville Voter Education League and Yes, At Large to discuss the ballot question and the pros and cons of their points of view. The forum will also discuss the proposed districts and the steps involved in moving to the district system.
The event will be telecast on the City of Naperville Government Access Channel, WCNC (6-WOW, 10-Comcast, 99-AT&T) as well as streamed live and available for on-demand viewing on the city’s website at www.naperville.il.us/granicus.html..
