An accused child pornographer from Naperville is home, after a judge agreed to lower his bond from $1 million to $250,000.
Records on file in Will County Circuit Court in Joliet showed Judge Richard C. Schoenstedt approved the bond reduction for Mitchell J. Brady, 50.
Brady was released Saturday morning from Will County Jail after posting $25,000 bail, the 10 percent of his new bond required by law. He had been in jail since his Jan. 31 arrest.
Charles B. Pelkie, spokesman for State’s Attorney James Glasgow, confirmed the bond was reduced Friday “over our objections.” The case has been continued to April 2.
A grand jury last week indicted Brady on five Class 2 felony charges of aggravated child pornography possession. A Class X felony count — which would have carried a mandatory sentence of six to 30 years in prison upon conviction — has been dismissed.
Brady lives on the 1300 block of Windemere Avenue. He was arrested after allegedly downloading child pornography.
Naperville police had Brady under investigation for two months, after learning he was allegedly involved in possession and distribution of child porn.
Police Sgt. Lou Cammiso said high tech crimes unit and special operations group investigators used a warrant to search Brady’s house. He was taken into custody after police found “videos and images of children under the age of 13 engaged in sexual conduct,” Cammiso said.
It was not known how many allegedly pornographic images and videos police confiscated from Brady. An examination of court documents revealed he has no criminal record in Will, DuPage or Kane counties.
