Peterson transferred to Menard Correctional Center

Convicted wife-killer Drew Peterson was moved to the Menard Correctional Center on Thursday, according to one of his attorneys.
The move marks the third stop for Peterson, a former Bolingbrook cop, since he was sentenced to 38 years in prison for killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Attorney Joe Lopez confirmed Peterson’s transfer, but said he did not know why he was moved there.
“He’s on Murderers’ Row with everybody else,” Lopez said.
A jury in September convicted Peterson of first-degree murder stemming from the March 2004 drowning of Savio in the bathtub at her Bolingbrook house.
Peterson, 59, spent nearly four years awaiting trial at the Will County Jail. Peterson was transferred to Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill the day after his sentencing, before being transferred to Pontiac Correctional Center just hours later.
The Menard Correctional Center currently is on lockdown, according to its website. Opened in March 1878, its total current population is 3,574 inmates, with a capacity of 3,739, according to its website.
Barring a successful appeal, Peterson would stay in prison until age 93. He’s still a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy.
