Police Report

These are incidents reported by the Naperville Police Department. Where charges have been filed, the report includes when and where the suspect was stopped or taken into custody and the nature of the charges.

Monday, Feb. 25

1Theft: Manager of business on 1500 block of West Ogden Avenue reported between Feb. 24 and 9 a.m., chair and printer stolen from area without surveillance cameras, most likely by employee; total property value estimated at $1,000.

Thursday, Feb. 28

2Vehicle burglary: A 29-year-old man reported between 6 p.m. Feb. 27 and 6:31 a.m., undetermined number of coins stolen from unlocked vehicle parked outside home on 500 block of Plank Road.

3Battery: Dominic Phoumsavanh, 50, Bolingbrook; 8:07 a.m. at the Naperville police station, 1350 W. Aurora Ave.; charged with battery.

4Suspended license: Isaura Castro, 35, Aurora; 8:19 a.m. near Ogden Avenue and Webster Street; charged with driving with a suspended license; also wanted on three warrants.

5Theft: Sometime over past academic year and before 10:51 a.m. today, six calculators stolen from North Central College Science Center, 30 N. Brainard St.

6Vandalism: A 44-year-old man reported about 10 p.m., juveniles hurled and shattered raw eggs against exterior of home on 3600 block of Kestral Drive.

Friday, March 1

7Suspended license: Mohammed M. Mirza, 27, 9900 block of South 248th Avenue; 12:40 a.m. near Cantore Road and Route 59; charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.

8Property damage: A 48-year-old man reported between 9 p.m. Feb. 28 and 7 a.m., baseball bat or other blunt object used to damage mailbox outside home on 3700 block of Parador Drive.

9Vandalism: A 45-year-old man reported between 11 p.m. Feb. 28 and 7:45 a.m., obscenities and crude images painted on windows of vehicle parked outside home on 400 block of South Sleight Street; paint proved to be washable; no damage reported.

10Theft: Man reported sometime before 8:39 a.m., license plate stolen from rear of vehicle parked on 1700 block of West Ogden Avenue.

11Leaving traffic crash scene: Andrew J. Wanda, 28, Aurora; 11:58 a.m. near Jefferson and Ogden avenues; charged with leaving scene of traffic accident involving vehicle damage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident/driving too fast for conditions and driving without insurance.

12Custody dispute: About 2:38 p.m., 45-year-old man called police to home on 1100 block of Needham Road to settle child custody dispute.

13Property damage: Kyle D. Vangsness, 19, Cherry Valley; 8:10 p.m. at North Central College dormitory, 221 E. Chicago Ave.; charged with criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana.

Saturday, March 2

14Driving under the influence: Chanise R. Spencer, 35, Aurora; 1:45 a.m. near Jefferson Avenue and Route 59; charged with two counts DUI and one count each driving without insurance, driving with expired registration and improper lane use.

15DUI: Kaily K. Deblock, 37, Montgomery; 2:22 a.m. near Bauer Road and Washington Street; charged with DUI, crossing double yellow line in roadway, illegal possession or transportation liquor, making improper turn at intersection, driving without insurance and speeding.

16DUI: Steven J. Cooper, 29, Woodridge; 3:01 a.m. near Sara Lane and Naper Boulevard; charged with two counts DUI and one count driving without headlights.

17Custody dispute: About 7:25 a.m., police sent to home on 1300 block of Modaff Road to settle child custody dispute.

18Suspended license: Michael A. Powell, 50, 1100 block of Iroquois Avenue; 11:23 a.m. near Ogden Avenue and Mill Street; charged with driving with a suspended license.

19Air rifle discharge: About 12:24 p.m., man and sons found firing air rifles in back yard of home on 1200 block of Olympus Drive; police warned man of city ordinance banning that activity.

20Vehicles hitting deer: About 5:45 p.m., 53-year-old motorist’s vehicle struck deer near Hamlet and Plainfield-Naperville roads; about 15 minutes later, 38-year-old man’s vehicle struck another deer near 95th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road, about a half-mile to north.

Sunday, March 3

21DUI: Tamara A. Tavassoli, 51, Batavia; 1:03 a.m. near Diehl Road and West Street; charged with two counts DUI and one count improper lane use.

22Public urination: About 2:09 a.m., unidentified, intoxicated pedestrain ticketed for urinating in public on 0-99 block of West Jackson Avenue.

23DUI: Nicole E. Comis, 37, 1000 block of Mattande Lane; 2:17 a.m. near North Avenue and Loomis Street; charged with DUI and disobeying stop sign.

24DUI: Eric M. Oyster, 22, Plainfield; 2:59 a.m. near Chicago Avenue and Loomis Street; charged with two counts DUI and one count each driving without insurance, failure to signal and improper lane use.

25Suspended license: Fortunato Beltran, 36, West Chicago; 12:47 p.m. near Sam’s Club service station, 916 S. Route 59; charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and driving with expired registration.

26Attempted shoplifting: About 4:14 p.m., unidentified woman put three bottles perfume into purse inside Ulta, 2707 W. Aurora Ave.; woman took bottles out and left store after observing employees calling police.

27Suspended license: Raul Varela, 20, West Chicago; 4:50 p.m. near Benton Avenue and Mill Street; charged with driving with a suspended license.
