No one hurt in Naperville attic fire early Tuesday

An early Tuesday morning attic fire in central Naperville that brought out 10 pieces of equipment was doused in about 15 minutes, leaving no one injuries.
Two fire trucks and six responders initially were sent after a 9-1-1 phone call at 1:32 a.m. where someone reported the smell of smoke in the house at 826 Raintree Drive, officials said. But as the pair of vehicles made its way to the scene, a second call reported flames possibly burning in the attic. Once the alarm was upgraded, an additional eight pieces of equipment and 18 responders were dispatched.
Those first arriving at the site found light smoke in a second-floor attic space. The residents were evacuated, and firefighters using hoses from indoors and the roof brought the fire under control quickly, according to the report from the Naperville Fire Department.
Estimated damage to the interior of the attic and the second floor of the home from smoke and water was at least $35,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A building inspector from Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering and Development Department also responded to the scene.
