‘Annie’: North Central College’s Summer Musical Theatre presents the family musical “Annie,” featuring 115 actors from the community. Six performances will be staged at 7:30 p.m. July 22 and 23 and at 2 p.m. July 17 and 24 in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Run: The CDH Winfield Run, which includes a 10K run and a 5K run/walk, will begin at 8 a.m. on the Central DuPage Hospital campus off of Jewell Road in Winfield. Fees will be $25 for pre-registered runners and $30 on the day of the race. The fee for those age 11 and under is $15. Visit www.winfieldhistory.com.
Settlement Sundays: Settlement Sundays will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. each Sunday through Aug. 28 at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St. Each Sunday, admission to the museum village includes a choice of a free sundae or a root beer float, but also a variety of hands-on activities, games, stories, presentations, entertainment and guest presentations. Hot jazz: The 23rd annual Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp and “Hot Jazz — 6 Cool Nites” concert series will be presented at North Central College through July 22. The overlapping events are jointly sponsored by the college’s Jazz Studies program. The evening concert series will feature the camp faculty artists and is open to the general public. Special Needs Night: Families with individuals who have special needs are invited to enjoy a quiet, relaxing evening at Centennial Beach, 500 W. Jackson Ave., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 17 and 31. Picnic on the Riverwalk: Join the Naperville Public Library each Wednesday in July for its Riverwalk Ampitheatre program at 11:30 a.m. Bring a meal or a snack and enjoy songs, stories and a puppet show, all presented by Children’s Services staff. In the event of bad weather, the program will be held in the Community Room of Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave. This program is presented in partnership with the Naperville Park District. Municipal Band concert: The Naperville Municipal Band’s 2011 summer concerts will take place at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday evening through Aug. 11 at the Community Concert Center in Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave. The first 1,000 audience members to arrive in Central Park for each concert will receive a chance to win one of four $25 gift certificates. Trolley tours: A trolley tour of historic Naperville will be held at 11 a.m. beginning at Jackson Avenue and Eagle Street. The tour includes Naperville’s Historic District, North Central College, downtown businesses and shopping areas, Centennial Beach, Moser Millennium Carillon, Naper Settlement, the police and fire stations, Edward Hospital, the Riverwalk and more. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 4 to 17 years old and one shiny penny for children 3 years old and under. Reservations are requested. Freedom Commons Summer Market: Freedom Commons Summer Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through the end of October at Freedom Commons at Freedom Drive and Diehl Road in Naperville. Not-for-profit organizations, including We Grow Dreams, Misericordia, Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry and A.D.O.P.T., will also have products for sale to benefit their organizations. DSO concert: “Treasures of the Silver Screen” is the theme for the DuPage Symphony Orchestra’s evening outdoor concert at 8 p.m.at Cantigny Park in Wheaton. Drive-in history: Hear the story of Prince Castle/Cock Robin during the program “Daddy of the Drive-Ins” from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St. The program will begin with a showing of “One in a Million: The Prince Castle and Cock Robin Story,” produced by Naperville Community Television Channel 17. Following the showing, Walter “Ted” Fredenhagen Jr., son of Walter Fredenhagen who founded Prince Castle with his lifelong friend Earl Prince, will answer questions.
