CHICAGO — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says she’s concerned about an “enormous expansion” of gambling.

The Illinois Radio Network reports Madigan feels Gov. Pat Quinn did the right thing when he suggested changes to legislation lawmakers have passed but still haven’t sent him.

Quinn earlier this week told lawmakers he could support legislation with five new casinos around the state, including the first one in Chicago. But Quinn opposes putting slot machines at race tracks as part of a gambling expansion. Quinn also suggested tightening up regulation of the proposed Chicago casino.

Madigan says she’s glad Quinn took time to look at the legislation. She says there needs to be “resources and the structure” in place to avoid the criminal element.
