Award-winning interior designer Maria Hildebrand recently opened Designing Interiors at 1220 Iroquois Road.
The studio specializes in custom interior designs from single rooms to whole-house remodels.
Hildebrand decided it was time to move out of her basement studio at home.
“This is my first office space,” Hildebrand says.
“I wanted a place in Naperville that is accessible, that is big enough to hold all my samples.”
Hildebrand also chose the spot because of the ample parking and adequate lighting, and a large enough office to hold her selection of catalogues and even more samples.
“It’s well lit and a comfy area to meet clients,” Hildebrand says of the new location.
Hildebrand originally graduated as a physical education teacher, following her parents’ career advice, then threw herself into raising a young family. A decade later, and once her fourth child was out of diapers, Hildebrand was ready to pursue her original passion for the arts and enrolled at College of DuPage. Soon she was working in a local design studio whose owner was ready to retire.
“I found myself almost running it,” says Hildebrand, thankful for the experience.
She then switched to a high-end design studio.
“After a few years, I realized that the clients came to see me, not the studio, and that’s when I first thought of going out on my own.”
Thirteen years later, Hildebrand opened her first official studio location.
“I hear time and time again that I listen to the needs of every client,” says Hildebrand of her secret to success, taking the client’s needs, realizing their style and ideas before transforming a space.
The third generation Chicago-based family-run business known as Wine Discount Center, recently re-branded their four stores to Vin Chicago. Their Naperville location at 2827 Aurora Ave. was fitted with a new sign and contemporary interior design remodeling, but offers the same extensive wine selection at affordable prices.
“We want to be fun and engaging,” says Naperville store manager Michael Matonte, who has been with the company for seven years.
He’s been at the Naperville location since it opened in late August 2011. “Naperville customers have been wonderful.”
Wine tastings are from noon to 4 p.m. every Saturday, Matonte adds.
“We offer big box pricing but a boutique selection,” Matonte sums up. “Everyday discount pricing and no membership needed.”
