This Black Bean Brownie, a vegan dessert, just might win over your kids, too.
It is exclusively made and sold at Two Mothers Foods, developed by owner Christy Kabbani about two years ago with her kids’ health in mind.
“My kids were in private schools with the typical lunch fare of conventional pizza. I started catering healthier options to the school and that evolved into Two Mothers Foods,” says Kabbani about how the little restaurant and bakery was inspired almost three years ago at 1659 N. Route 59, just south of Diehl Road.
“What kid doesn’t want a treat,” Kabbani says.
Developing the Black Bean Brownie took a few trials, substituting typical ingredients such as eggs and flour with vegan options.
“The beans are a great source of protein, instead of the eggs. We use gluten-free flour and dark chocolate. Everybody seems to like it,” says Kabbani of the $3 muffin-sized dessert.
Two Mothers Foods offers daily lunch and dinner options created by Kabbani and “other mother” Mayumi Tonks.
Quality is the essence of this little restaurant that also creates custom meals for weight loss, cancer and other health issues upon request.
“I get most of my ingredients at local farmers markets, Genesis Growers and Testa Produce,” Kabbani says.
Sign up for the Dinner Club and get a vegan or vegetarian dinner for a family of four for just $28 plus tax every Wednesday.
“We know how busy families are. This is a great way to eat healthy. We do the preparation and you can enjoy,” Kabbani says.
