A joint effort last month by Naperville police and District 2 Illinois State Police troopers resulted in 47 arrests being made or tickets being issued, including two for drunken driving.
The unannounced “roadside safety check” was conducted during the late-night hours of Sept. 20 and early morning of Sept. 21, according to a state police news release. Motorists were stopped at Fifth Avenue and Washington Street, near the Metra Railway commuter train station north of downtown Naperville.
A total of 45 arrests were made or tickets issued, the news release indicated. Two other motorists received warning tickets.
In addition to the two DUI arrests, the tally included 12 offenses involving driver’s licenses and seven for occupant restraint violations. The other tickets were for myriad traffic and vehicular equipment violations.
