Men’s fall retreat
Area Lutheran churches of the Missouri Synod along with Lutheran Hour Ministries will host the second Men’s Retreat beginning at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 until 3:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Walcamp in Kingston, Ill.
The retreat theme this year is “Christian Men in the 21st Century!” Guest speaker for one of the sessions will be Illinois State Supreme Court Justice Robert Thomas, who also was a kicker for the Chicago Bears.
Participants must be 18 to register. The registration fee is $85 for the overnight, which will include lodging and two meals on Saturday. The Saturday-only fee is $40 and will include a continental breakfast and lunch. Register by Oct. 1.

“Building Better Humans” is the title of a six-week seminar on parenting on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. from Sept. 17 through Oct. 22 at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 East Roosevelt Road, Wheaton. Ray Graham Association’s Monarch Services and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Disability Ministry have join forces to offer a speaker series on many of the issues people with disabilities and their families, educators and community members face. The first in the series is from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville.
Ed McManus, a consultant and owner of Developmental Disabilities Consulting, will share insights on Medicaid Waiver Services and funding realities that can help parents better map out the future for their child. McManus is a lawyer who spent almost 20 years with the Illinois Division of Developmental Disabilities.
