Church group hosts series on LBGT community
Lead with Love, a grassroots group formed by members of Grace United Methodist Church for the purpose of creating a more welcoming environment for the friends, family and members of the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender community, is sponsoring a series of learning opportunities titled “Love Opens Doors.”
This series will facilitate a dialogue on the intentional inclusion of LGBT persons into the membership of Grace and the local faith community in general. All sessions will be led by a member of the clergy and cover topics that call for a return to the core Christian values of hospitality, compassion, justice, mercy and genuine love for all of God’s people.
The first session will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in Grace’s fellowship hall, 300 E. Gartner Road, featuring the Rev. Blaine Rader on “A Covenant for Discussion.” Subsequent sessions are on Sundays, Nov. 10, Dec. 8, Jan. 12, Feb. 9 and March 9. A light brunch will be served before each program. Contact the Revs. Don Niswonger or Carol Findon to learn more, 630-416-8393.
