State Rep. Darlene Senger (R-Naperville) will host a free disabilities transition forum from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Naperville Municipal Center.
The forum will focus on the opportunities and services available to help local families navigate the transition to adult life for children with disabilities. The forum is open to parents, relatives, teachers and other professionals who are critical to the success of individuals with disabilities.
Speakers will include: Representatives from school districts 203, 204, and 200; parents of children who have transitioned from school to life after school; local attorneys with experience in guardianship and special needs trusts; and representatives from Ray Graham Association, Little Friends, and PACT Inc.
“Our community offers a strong support system for individuals with disabilities and their families,” said Senger. “The purpose of this forum is to communicate important information with families from organizations in our community regarding transition services, employment opportunities, long-term planning options, and more, all in one convenient location. It is also a wonderful chance to connect with other families and to talk over the issues they face as parents.”
