State Rep. Tom Cross (R-Oswego) and Edward Hospital are teaming up to sponsor a Diabetes Awareness Fair free for residents.
The Diabetes Awareness Fair will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 16, at Edward’s Plainfield campus, 24600 W. 127th St., Plainfield.
“Diabetes can affect everyone and the number of new diagnoses increases every day,” said Cross in a press release. “This is our third annual fair to provide free resources and health-care screenings to the community.”
The event includes free admission, refreshments, and information and resources on living with diabetes. Certified diabetes educators and doctors from Edward Hospital will be available to talk with visitors about their concerns on diabetes.
“This event will provide information not only for those who have diabetes, but also for those who may be at risk and may not know it,” said Cross. “Diabetes is very manageable if you receive proper medical care and education.”
Visitors will be able to get free blood glucose testing, podiatric foot screenings, flu shots, blood pressure checks and more.
More than 30 pharmaceutical, insulin pump and blood sugar meter companies will also be in attendance providing free information and resources.
