The Government Finance Officers Association of the U. S. and Canada (GFOA) recently awarded the Naperville Park District the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) Award for its 2012 Annual Report, submitted in June 2013, and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
“We were excited to learn that our 2012 Annual Report won the Popular Financial Report Award, as it was the first time that we submitted an entry,” said Director of Finance Sue Stanish.
“We redesigned our Annual Report to include more photographs and graphics to make it more appealing for readers, similar to the design of the new Budget Snapshot.”
The District’s redesign of the 2012 Annual Report met the requirements of the PAFR award, which included “creativity, presentation, understandability and reader appeal,” as stated in the letter sent to the District by the GFOA.
In addition to the PAFR award, the Park District received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The Naperville Park District has received this Certificate annually since 1991.
According to GFOA, the Certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. “Preparing the comprehensive financial report is part of our overall goal to maintain the financial health of the Park District and to communicate clearly with the community,” said Finance Director Sue Stanish.
