The Naperville Park District and City of Naperville are partnering with The Conservation Foundation for a fall festival focused on sustainability at McDonald Farm this September. Read the full press release below:
The City of Naperville and the Naperville Park District are partnering with The Conservation Foundation, a Naperville-based nonprofit, to sponsor the McDonald Farm Fall Festival that will take place Sunday, September 15, 2013.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 60-acre McDonald Farm, headquarters of The Conservation Foundation. McDonald Farm is located at 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road in Naperville, and the festival is free to the public. If weather is questionable on the day of the event, please contact The Conservation Foundation by calling (630) 428-4500 or visit www.theconservationfoundation.org.Bicyclists are encouraged to cycle to the event using the bike trail that runs across McDonald Farm along Knoch Knolls Road.
The event celebrates The Conservation Foundation's 41 years of working in the region's rivers, prairies, woodlands and your neighborhood to preserve and restore natural lands and water resources. The festival will feature tours of the McDonald Farm's sustainability components, such as wind and solar power, rainwater harvesting, wetland preservation and organic farm fields as well as green living demonstrations. In addition, there will be hayrides, live music, a raptor show, face painting, pony rides, games and other children's activities offered. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase at the event, or attendees can bring a picnic to enjoy amid the festivities or on a peaceful corner of the farm.

The Naperville Park District will showcase its plans for the forthcoming Nature Center that is currently under construction at Knoch Knolls Park, located on Knoch Knolls Road across from McDonald Farm. Details about the Nature Center are available at www.napervilleparks.org.
