The Naperville Municipal Band’s winter concert, “Winter Winds in Illinois,” will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 9 in Naperville Central High School’s auditorium, 440 W. Aurora Ave, Naperville. Admission is free. The joint concert will be performed with the Madison Junior High School band.
“We look forward to performing with the youth bands because these young musicians are our future,” said Ron Keller, director of the Naperville Municipal Band.
The Municipal Band will perform two numbers with the Madison Junior High School band, including “Reverberations,” by Brian Balmages, and the “Loony Tunes Overture.”
In honor of Presidents Day, the Municipal Band will perform “Reagan in Illinois,” a symphony to celebrate the centennial of President Ronald Reagan’s birth. Paul Grizzell, renowned bass baritone, instructor of voice at North Central College and sound engineer at the Naperville Concert Center, will read the narration.
To celebrate “The Wizard of Oz” 75th anniversary this year, and the Municipal Band will play the overture and themes from this timeless movie. Other musical selections include “Call Me Maybe,” “The Middy March,” “Satiric Dances,” “The Silver Quill” and the introduction to Act 3 of “Lohengrin.”
