The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County will offer a free wood-chip pickup day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at its native-plant nursery in Blackwell Forest Preserve, 29w218 Mack Road in West Chicago.
Mulch can be carted away in trucks no begger than a pickup. A staff member will help fill truck beds with a loader.
The district makes its own mulch from tree-trimming and brush-clearing projects, and uses it along trails and within landscaping throughout the forest preserves. When it has more mulch than it needs, it makes the wood chips available to the public.
The nursery entrance is on the south side of Mack Road about a half mile east of Route 59. For more information, call 630-876-5920.
