A member of the famed Kennedy political clan will be the keynote speaker at the 11th annual Wake Up Your Spirit Breakfast. The yearly event, hosted by the homelessness prevention agency DuPagePads, is set for 7 to 8:30 a.m. Nov. 6 at Benedictine University in Lisle.
Christopher G. Kennedy, the eighth of Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy’s 11 children, will address the guests, who also will hear comments from a DuPagePads participant. Carol Simler, the nonprofit’s executive director, will offer a rundown of current developments, new programs and future plans at the Wheaton-based agency as well.
Kennedy is a board member with the Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness and founder of the hunger-relief nonprofit Top Box Foods. President of Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. until leaving the post in 2011, he lives in the Chicago area with his wife, Sheila, and their four children.
“We are thrilled to have Christopher Kennedy as our keynote speaker,” Simler said in a press release. “His dedication and passion for those who are homeless is awe-inspiring.”
The public is invited. Tickets are available at an advance purchase rate of $40. The price increases to $45 on Oct. 18. Reservations can be made for tables of eight.
