Downtown Naperville’s Riverwalk and Riverview parking lots will be closed Monday and Tuesday for scheduled maintenance work.

Maintenance will include “a complete resurfacing of both parking lots,” according to a city news release. “Although the lots will be unavailable for use during this time, parking will be available in all other downtown lots.”

A map of alternative parking facilities in the downtown area can be viewed online, at www.naperville.il.us/downtownparking.aspx. The Riverview and Riverwalk lots will re-open Wednesday, provided inclement weather or “unforeseen circumstances” do not interfere with the scheduled work.

The resurfacing work is part of the larger, $643,000 Naperville Municipal Parking Lot Improvement Project.

As part of ongoing maintenance by the city, work is scheduled to be done this summer at 15 municipal parking lots. That work began this month and is expected to last until August.

The work being done in each lot varies with the level of repair needed. Work can include anything from patching, curb and gutter replacement to a full repaving.

Work is underway at the Van Buren Avenue, Central Parking, Central Park and Court Place lots, and at all of the Naperville Fire Department fire station lots. The Van Buren Avenue, Central Park and Court Place lots are being patched and restriped, while patching is scheduled for Central Parking.

Patching and restriping will be done this summer at the Metra Railway Fourth Avenue commuter train station lot, with resurfacing set for the Kroehler Family YMCA of Metro Chicago and Parkview lots. Crack fill work is slated for the 95th Street Park & Ride lot.

Various types of maintenance are being done on the lots at fire stations 1, 2, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Work at stations 1 and 6 is to include complete lot resurfacing.

The parking lot improvement project is one component of road and construction work happening throughout the city. An interactive, online construction map, providing at-a-glance updates on construction projects, can be viewed at http://gis.naperville.il.us/mashups/construction/.
