Lucas

Age: 4 months old

Breed: Shepherd/blue heeler mix

Personality: Lucas is a sweet and cuddly 12-pounder who gets along great with dogs and all people. He has lots of puppy energy, but loves his naps. He sleeps in his cage at night and when his foster family leaves the house.

Other: He would do best with someone home most of the day. He is progressing with potty training and has sat a few times on command. He needs a fenced yard. Lucas is up to date on all vaccinations and heart worm and flea preventative appropriate for his age.

Adoption fee: $250

Jenny

Age: 2 years old

Breed: Hound mix

Background: Jenny was transferred to NAHS from an overcrowded shelter in Oklahoma.

Personality: Jenny is an all-around great dog. She is sweet, friendly and can’t seem to resist a good game of fetch. After a long day of playing and having fun, Jenny loves to snuggle with her favorite people. She gets along well with most other dogs, and is calm and casual around cats as well. If there are children in Jenny’s new home, they should be a little older and experienced with dogs, since she is still learning to share her toys and treats.

Adoption fee: $14 during the My Furry Valentine! promotion through Feb. 16

Other: All animals at NAHS have been examined for health and temperament, are up-to-date on vaccines and have been microchipped. They are spayed and neutered at adoption.

Where to find this pet: Naperville Area Humane Society, 1620 W. Diehl Road, Naperville, or www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.

Madame Butterfly

Age: 1-1/2 years old

Breed: Domestic short hair

Background: She was found as a stray by a local animal control and transferred to NAHS last March.

Personality: Madame Butterfly is a very sweet and loving cat. She can be a bit shy at first, but don’t be fooled, she is full of personality! Once she feels comfortable with you, Madame Butterfly is very playful. Because she can be nervous at first, it would be best if children in her new home are a bit older and have been around cats before. Dogs might be a bit too much.

Jag

Age: 2 years old

Breed: Greater Swiss mountain dog mix

Background: Jag was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Indiana and is learning the joys of being an indoor dog.

Personality: He loves attention and is coming along nicely on his house manners. This mellow guy likes hanging out in his crate and sleeps there through the night. He walks well on a leash and enjoys strolling the neighborhood with you. Jag gets along great with adults and older kids, but can be a little picky about his canine pals, so he would do well as the only dog in your home. See how cute Jag is at http://youtu.be/XCj8Lov22A0

Other: Jag is neutered, crate trained and current on his vaccinations — microchipping is included with his adoption fee.

Adoption fee: $200

Magic

Age: 2 years old

Breed: Short haired

Background: Magic was born to an outside mom and rescued with his three brothers at 5 weeks old. He has been in foster care since.

Personality: Magic is pretty laid back guy. He likes to lay on the top perch of the kitty tree with his legs dangling over the side, waiting for snuggles. He also likes to try and trip his foster mom by rubbing on her legs while she is walking. He lives with his brother Dillon and several other kitty buddies, and would love to go to his new home with one of his friends, if possible.

Adoption fee: $100

Other: Neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines
